Nyabihu District is known for maize production and other crops like Tea, Coffee, Irish Potatoes, wheat and beans. Maize is grown in most counties, so far 980 ha of land has been cultivated for maize growing and 1630 ha of land has been prepared for wheat growing, The District is projecting more than 1633 ha of land for maize growing with projected returns of 4.528.054 kg for year 2009. Together with wheat that has been projected to occupy more than 2871 ha of land for year 2009 with projected returns of 2.181.960 kg. Beans are projected to reach 941.000 kg for year 2009. The District intend to increase the production of high breed banana plantation locally known as (Mporogoma and Thai)
The Disrict is expecting to harvest around 67.864.892 kg of Irish Potatoes due fertile volcanic soils.

Nursary beds for tea seedlings amounting to 1.800.700 have been prepared for the month of November and 1.600.000 million cloned seedling are being prepared for the another season. Other 10 nursary beds have been prepared for coffee seedlings amounting to 150.000 the spraying will begin in the month of November.
