RAMBURA: TEACHERS URGED TO PROMOTE QUALITY EDUCATION

In Rambura Sector, Nyabihu District, the International Teachers’ Day was celebrated at the district level under the theme: “Standing with Teachers: 60 Years of Protecting Profession, advancing its status and Shaping Our Future.” During the celebrations, participants discussed the quality of education, existing challenges and strategies to address them, with a particular focus on innovation in education.

The guest of honour, Mr. SIMPENZWE Pascal, Deputy Mayor in charge of Social Affairs, urged teachers to strengthen cooperation to improve the quality of education. He also called on them to avoid misconduct that could undermine their responsibilities, including alcoholism, absenteeism and other inappropriate behaviours.

He reminded teachers of their critical role in preventing school dropouts and ensuring that children remain in school, noting that teachers are a cornerstone of children’s development and the country’s progress. He urged every teacher to work towards ensuring that no child is left behind in education.

During the celebrations, teachers were also reminded of the important role of their profession in building a knowledge-based economy and contributing to the implementation of Rwanda’s Vision 2050. It was emphasized that improving the quality of education, promoting innovation and equipping children with the knowledge and skills they need are essential to building the country’s future.
